A Historic Legacy in Seafood Excellence Since 1927
Established in 1927 by Luciano Sabella and his son Antone, Sabella & La Torre (originally called A Sabella) stands as one of the original Fisherman's Wharf restaurants still thriving today. Hailing from the fishing town of Siacca in Sicily, Luciano wasted no time applying his expertise to the bustling seafood scene of San Francisco. Opening A Sabella in 1927, he initially sold crabs and other fresh catches to eager customers, laying the foundation for a lasting culinary legacy.
Expanding Horizons
Following World War II, Antone made the pivotal decision to pass the torch to his brothers, Frank and Michael Sabella, and his nephews, Toni and Louis La Torre. Together, they transformed the humble crab stand into a full-service restaurant, catering to the evolving tastes of locals and tourists alike. As the years went by, Sabella & La Torre grew in both reputation and scale, becoming a beloved fixture of the Fisherman's Wharf dining scene.
Continuing the Tradition
Today, Sabella & La Torre is proudly operated by the fourth generation of the Sabella & La Torre families. With a deep-rooted commitment to quality and tradition, they carry forward the legacy of their ancestors, indulging locals and guests from all corners of the globe to experience the best of San Francisco's seafood and Italian cuisine. From the time-honored recipes passed down through generations to the warm hospitality that has become synonymous with the establishment, Sabella & La Torre continues to honor its storied past while embracing the excitement of the future.
